Request Price & AvailabilityDragon Tiger Grouper is a premium hybrid species produced by crossing the Giant Grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus) with the Tiger Grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus). The resulting hybrid — developed in Taiwan and now widely cultivated in certified aquaculture operations in Batam and the Riau Islands — combines the rapid growth rate of the Giant Grouper with the superior flesh quality and market appeal of the Tiger Grouper.
The hybrid's commercial advantages are compelling for international buyers: a market-ready weight of 600g–2.5kg is reached in 12–18 months (compared to 24+ months for wild-caught grouper), enabling consistent year-round supply with predictable sizing. The flesh is firm, white, and exceptionally clean-flavored, making it the preferred choice for five-star hotel kitchens and Michelin-starred restaurants in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
TaMainco sources Dragon Tiger Grouper exclusively from BRC-certified aquaculture operations in the Riau Islands, where controlled pond environments and certified feed protocols ensure consistent product quality and full traceability. Water quality parameters — dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, and temperature — are monitored continuously and logged as part of our HACCP program.
The species commands a significant premium over wild-caught grouper in East Asian markets, where its consistent size, predictable supply, and year-round availability make it the preferred choice for institutional buyers. BRC certification covers our processing facility, making this product suitable for UK and EU retail supply chains in addition to Asian markets.
