Request Price & AvailabilityDried Seaweed from Indonesia — primarily Cottonii (Eucheuma cottonii / Kappaphycus alvarezii) and Spinosum (Eucheuma denticulatum) varieties — is a high-volume agricultural commodity sourced from the prolific seaweed farming communities of Southeast Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Indonesia is the world's largest producer of these carrageenan-producing seaweed species, accounting for over 35% of global supply, and Southeast Sulawesi's Wakatobi and Kolaka Timur districts produce some of the highest-quality dried product in the country.
The Cottonii and Spinosum varieties are the primary raw materials for the global carrageenan industry — an essential food additive and stabilizer used in dairy products, processed meat, beverages, and personal care products across Asia, Europe, and North America. Indonesian Dried Seaweed is also directly consumed in East Asian food markets (Japan, China, Korea) and increasingly in Western health-food channels where its nutritional profile and sustainability credentials drive demand.
TaMainco's seaweed supply partners in Southeast Sulawesi maintain traditional sun-drying methods that produce Grade A dried seaweed with moisture content below 35% and salt content below 3% — meeting the baseline specifications required by industrial carrageenan processors and food importers alike. The product is harvested on 45-day growth cycles, cleaned, sun-dried on raised platforms to prevent soil contamination, and baled in breathable PP bags for export.
SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia) certification and Phytosanitary certification from Indonesia's agricultural authority are standard documentation for every seaweed shipment, covering the phytosanitary requirements of importing countries. A minimum 20ft container load (approximately 18 MT) is the standard export unit for dried seaweed, though TaMainco can arrange LCL consolidation for smaller-volume buyers.
